BRIEF

Espresso Anyday is a café by Bright Hospitality, designed by Metanoia Designs as an exploration of how architecture can celebrate the act of making rather than simply accommodate consumption. Challenging the conventional separation between kitchen and dining, the project reimagines the café as a public workshop where the preparation of food and coffee becomes the central experience. Instead of treating culinary processes as back-of-house functions, the design frames them as moments of craft, inviting visitors to witness the transformation of ingredients into finished dishes.

The spatial experience is defined by a restrained palette of warm terracotta surfaces contrasted with precision-crafted stainless steel, reflecting the duality of rawness and refinement inherent to cooking. Through carefully choreographed planning, layered sightlines, and a sectional experience that shifts from immersion to observation, the project transforms anticipation into an architectural device. Espresso Anyday proposes a new hospitality typology—one where architecture heightens appreciation for craft, making the journey of creation as memorable as the meal itself.

The Idea:

Espresso Anyday challenges the conventional relationship between hospitality and architecture by shifting the focus from consumption to creation.

Inspired by the idea of a public workshop, the project reimagines the café as a place where culinary craft is experienced rather than concealed.

Instead of treating food preparation as a back-of-house function, the design celebrates the rituals of brewing, cooking, and plating as moments of engagement, transforming anticipation into an integral part of the dining experience.

Every architectural decision stems from a single proposition: the act of making deserves to be witnessed. The project explores how architecture can heighten perception by allowing visitors to observe precision, movement, and transformation in real time.

More than a hospitality space, Espresso Anyday proposes a new typology where the process becomes the experience and craft becomes the identity of the place.
