BRIEF

Conceived as an evolution of an idea first explored in 2022, BLUORNG’s Gurgaon flagship represents a renewed and refined collaboration between the homegrown streetwear brand and Metanoia Designs. The project revisits the metaphor of a cave—originally envisioned as a raw, monolithic retail environment—but reinterprets it through years of shared learning, multiple store rollouts, and a deeper understanding of the brand’s ethos and operational realities.

Having designed over five BLUORNG stores across India, Metanoia Designs approached the Gurgaon flagship with clarity and intent. Located within a mall, the space demanded strong spatial recall and visual impact while resisting the excess typical of its surroundings. This led the design team to move away from the orthogonal, minimalist language previously explored in Ahmedabad, and instead fully commit to a sculptural, organic interior shaped by fluid geometry and subdued materiality.

The interior is defined by undulating walls and carved recesses that function simultaneously as architecture and display. These forms were developed through extensive digital modelling, using intuitive extrusion and form-manipulation techniques to achieve a sense of controlled randomness—allowing the space to feel organic rather than overtly designed. Product displays are integrated into these recesses, ensuring uninterrupted circulation and clear sightlines throughout the store.

A sculptural steel column anchors the central volume, acting as both a structural and visual focal point. Material selection remains deliberately restrained, with micro-concrete surfaces, exposed structural steel, and stretch-fabric lighting elements forming the primary palette. These materials were chosen for their durability, ease of execution, and consistency—refined through repeated testing across multiple BLUORNG projects.

Lighting is concealed within fabric-based elements and architectural crevices, softening the concrete surfaces and enhancing the cave-like atmosphere without drawing attention to the fixtures themselves. The result is a muted, immersive environment that allows the product to remain central while the architecture quietly frames the experience.
